It is taking longer to get over this cold than I had hoped. And that, combined with Philip catching it and the cold weather means we have hardly been out this week. Which means one positive thing! - yes, plenty of time to sew.
My Stitch Journal is well under way - day 10 already!
My main focus this week has been my Chookshed Challenge - the Sue Hawkins kit. Having investigated further into the envelope I was given I found this picture of the finished scissor stand - much clearer than the one I posted last week.
Having spent about 10 minutes trying to unpick what the previous owner had started, I gave up and pulled a new piece of canvas from the drawer to work on. I have made really good progress as you can see.
So far I have done the top and two sides. I have decided to complete all the background stitching before adding the raised vegetables and flowers so that I can avoid catching them with stray threads while I work. I cracked on with this project because I knew that with the Attic 24 CAL starting on Friday I would be turning all my attention there for a while.
The first set on instructions for the Wildshore CAL arrived yesterday and I made a good start.
You can find the instructions for the shell pattern on the Attic 24 website under Wildshore CAL if you fancy trying it out. It is quick to work and if you can count to three then you are good to go!
So that is all from me today. I has been a beautiful sunny day but back to the rain tomorrow. Have a lovely week.
There is a lot of work in that tiny box, Lin. So lovely.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your journals. It is a great idea.
I do hope you feel better soon Lin - sometimes these winter coughs & colds can linger. I love the new header too. I think you made a wise decision regarding starting with a fresh piece of canvas - you have done lots already & its looking great! xx
ReplyDeleteHope the cold is getting better. The scissor box looks very intricate and I love that crochet. Did you get her kit of yarn - lovely colours
ReplyDeleteHugz
The scissor stand is very different. Smart move to start from fresh. I like the colours of your crochet
ReplyDeleteLucy always does a good CAL. Your wee box is going to be stunning.
ReplyDeleteSending healing wishes to you both. You have certainly made good use of your down time.
ReplyDeleteLin, I think I can count to three.=) That is a lovely shell pattern and the yarn colours marry beautifully together. You've made a fabulous start on both the Sue Hawkins kit and the stitch journal. Both are looking so pretty. I hope this coming week sees the end of that nasty cold. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHope you both are over that cold soon. I enjoy seeing your Stitch Journals so looking forward to seeing your 2026 one progress. The wee scissor box is so cute, so much progress already. Pretty start on the CAL project.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy watching your progress on the Stitch Journal.
ReplyDeleteThe box looks very intricate work. Good idea to have started over rather than unpicking.
Hope both hubby and you are now feeling better.
I like the colours of your CAL. Spring colours are a nice choice in January.
ReplyDeleteLovely stitch work and very pretty colours in your crochet.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great start (restart?) on the Sue Hawkins kit. Your 2026 stitch journal is starting off nicely, too. I've never participated in a CAL, but I love the Wildshore piece and look forward to following your progress.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are both well on the mend now. I love the new CAL blanket. I have always used the Stylecraft Special DK with all Lucy's CALs but maybe next time I will try the alternative yarn, i am not making this one as it is a bit similar to another one and I already have so many .Love your scissor holder...very adventurous.
ReplyDeleteSometimes just starting again is the right thing to do!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve made a good start on stitching despite feeling under the weather. I hope you are much better now. I love Lucy’s CALs, but haven’t ever join in. Enjoy working on yours.
