A Quiet week (another!)

Starting off with my Stitch Journal and we are halfway through the month already so here are my entires for the month so far. Jo suggested that I add an umbrella as we have had so much rain - happy to oblige Jo. And today we have had a mornings worth of sunshine so thought that was worth celebrating.

I have added some more rows to my Wildshore blanket but not many. Next week is a catchup week before we tackle the border so have plenty of time. The reason though that I have not done so much is that I realised the deadline for finishing the socks I started befoe Christmas was fast approaching. So I have spent quite a bit of time this week knitting. However!

This is the sock I finished before Christmas.

Rather an odd colour repeat I thought but heyho. So I wound on the wool to get to the yellow/navy and cracked on with the sock. All went well until I had turned the heel and then look what happened!

Oh well, I am not changing anything and as it is the foot it will not notice inside a pair of shoes but such an odd repeat. I will look out the label and add it when I post the finished socks as I shall be avoiding this maker in the future.

Small progress on my Chookshed Challenge, not worth photographing - I shall get back to it as soon as the sock is complete.

That is all from me for this week, happy stitching.

  1. The socks are so pretty, no one will notice they're not exactly the same. Your stitching journal looks so nice. The umbrella is cute, so is the sun. Happy stitching!

  2. I have given up trying to make my socks identical twins from yarn that wasn't dyed as two skeins, together. I have had too many skeins that have a missing strip or pattern change. Now I just make fraternal twins, and let it go. I love the bright colours in those socks.

  3. yes, they missed a bit of yellow and grey for you - but as you say it won't notice and its very 'in' to wear odd socks anyway????? Love the stitching journal, farmer son over there was saying how wet it is and they can't get on to do stuff...

  4. What a surprise with the yarn! I think the focus will be on the part above the heel, and the difference won’t be so noticeable.

  5. Great stitching, always good to see your progress. I wouldn't be worried about the socks, it is interesting the colours didn't follow on though.

  6. Happy to see the cute umbrella. Of course, the sun has been shining when you have been thinking of the rain. Just a little bit of variety. Happy looking socks

  7. I love that you have included the weather in your stitching this month. How frustrated with the sock colours. At least they will still work.

  8. Wow! That certainly was a surprise as you rounded the heel of your sock! Thankfully the leg, which is what shows most, is perfectly in sync. Will make pretty socks anyway. The addition of the umbrella was a brilliant idea and perfectly stitched. Crack on, Lin!

  9. As long as it's inside a boot, no one will notice the peculiar not-quite-a-repeat, but isn't it odd!

  10. Love the colors in the socks. Never mind what is inside the shoe. Lovely stitches on your journal. The sun is especially fun.

  11. I must be an odd bird because I'm sorry to read all the comments that say the socks won't show inside a shoe. If someone was to take the time to knit me a pair of socks I would show them off. Like walking around without shoes, or wearing shorter pants. It's a maker mistake not a knitter mistake. Show them off! I love your Stitch Journal page. It looks like a lovely English garden with a water wheel. So peaceful! Enjoy! ;^)

  13. It used to be trendy to wear odd socks. They look splendid, even with the slight difference. Lovely to see your brolly and the rain, with the sun shining through.

  15. Such a happy and bright stitchery. Annoying about the sock but as you say it will not be seen when inside a shoe.

  16. Dear Lin, the striped socks are fantastic. They're such cheerful socks!
You're working on some beautiful embroidery.
    Happy weekend!

  17. Fun idea to add the umbrella - and good that you got to add a sun as well!! Your stitch diary is looking lovely. The socks are great - you are right - on the foot the difference of colours won't be very noticeable - and it's so similar I'm sure it will only be noticed by those in the know!
