I have now got all the little 2021 Dresdens sewn down onto the RSC Dresden quilt top.
And my first for several months. Just made it in time too as we were without internet until mid day on Friday. Thank you Cheryll - pop over to Cheryll's blog here to see what everyone was working on.
I have started adding my mini hexie dresdens to my RSC Dresden quilt, so that is what I was working on yesterday. I have them dancing around the border - here are a few that are in place.
Earlier this week I completed three more Field Journal hexagons.
The hollyhock and pimpernel blocks are my favourites!
Well that's all for now - I shall be catching up whith what everyone was working on later. Meanwhile, the sun is shining so I am going to sit outside and continue sewing dresdens.

Well I love aqua and it's close friends but for some reason my scrap box held very little! Forgot to take a photograph of my scraps but here are the little Dresdens and my crumb blocks for the month.
Well, they didn't take long! In fact I finished them early in the month but forgot to add them to last weeks post.
Following on from my Hundertwasser sprials sketchbook page I decided to do a bit more research into spirals and have started a new sketchbook! This is the inside cover.
Meanwhile I am trawling the internet and my old sketchbooks for anything spiral related to add to my new book.
The promised hot weather has arrived - so I am indoors with a fan running!

First of all Friday Night Sew In and many thanks to Wendy for getting us together again, good to sew along with friends. You can see what everyone was working on here.
I felt it time to get my RSC dark blues finished up and made six crumb blocks to add to my collection along with my little dresdens and a couple of scraptherapy blocks. So this month this
turned into this.
but it is certainly not summer as we know it! The weather continues on its wierd and wonderful way with a mixture of sunny days and showery days and cooler temperatures. I even dug out my jeans this week.
On the sewing front I have made a start on my RSC blues - my little Dresdens are made and scraptherapy blocks made. The crumb blocks will have to wait until I clear my desk.
My desk is currently home to my watercolours and I have started on a still life using what I have learnt over the last couple of months. Here is my piece so far.
Still a few more days work to do on it especially the background which I am really nervous about!
In the evenings I have finished a couple more Field Journal hexies
and I have been continuing with the quilting on my tablecloth.

Friday Night with Friends, being at the beginning of the month, is always the ideal time to work on my Rainbow Scrap Challege blocks for the month. And this month is no different. Earlier in the week I got out my scrap box and pulled all the purple scraps - and anything mauve or lilac too as I felt they went together. Just as well too as surprisingly my purple scrap pile was not very big.
So on Friday afternoon I cut out my little hexie Dresden flowers ready to sew in the evening and cracked on with the crumb blocks. Just 3 crumb blocks and only 4 squares for my Scraptherapy box. Still, I did use every last scrap so that was good.

I have been busy on and off with my water colours since I last posted and have now moved on from glass to china. First picture my last attempt at glass,then two china pieces.
I also joined in with the #7daysketchbookchallenge on Instagram and did a sketch a day - well I fell behind and did 3 in one day but you get the idea. Having chosen my sketchbook I then discovered on day 2 that our theme would be the 7 colours of the rainbow. My sketchbook wouldnt take wet paint so I stuck with just pencil drawings. I am glad I did though as really sketching was my whole reason for doing the challenge. Here they are in order starting with my red kettle
and finishing with my amethyst ring, the only violet I could find in the house. So glad I joined in with this and I look forward to joining in with the next one.

The RSC colour for May is red and so, as usual, I started by pulling all the reds from my scrap box and making a couple of little red dresden flowers.

I have been busy quilting the 'skirt' of my tablecloth this week and I have to say it is far more enjoyable than working on the baskets in the centre and I have left the flowers in hope that inspiration might strike. Sorry, no photograph yet but I promise for next week.
I have also been painting more watercolour fruit. I am happy with these two.
The next challenge is a clear object ie a glass of water. For this I need masking fluid and as the shops are still closed I am awaiting a delivery. Meanwhile I could get a few sketches made.
For those who mentioned it I can report that my poppy now has it's hanging sleeve and has been put safely away until November.
It's wild orchid season here and we have been out and about looking for nice examples to photograph (it's also tick season but we wont go into that!) Here are a few of my favourites.

Yesterday was FNwF's hosted by Cheryll - thank you Cheryll and hope you are having fun on your travels.
As a wet day was promised - but of course didnt materialise! - I decided to start decorating the kitchen. Always a mamoth task as there is so much to move so I tend to work on a section at a time. Fortunately after lunch there was time between coats of paint to make a start on some secret stitching. The design was ready so I just had to trace it up and sort out some thread which is what I did.
This is just a tiny section. After all that moving and cleaning and painting I was very happy to sink into my sofa and spend the evening with a good film and making a start on embroidering my design.

This months Rainbow Scrap Challenge colour is light and bright blue and so last weekend I went through my scrap box and pulled out all the bits of blue.
Not a great variety of fabrics there but I managed enough for my little Dresdens, some scrap therapy squares and six crumb blocks which have now been added to my collection.

Well, what happened to Friday I have no idea, but all I have to show for my Friday Night with Friends are these coffin hexagons that I cut out for the next stage of Wings and Pretty Things.

The new Rainbow Scrap Challenge colour for March is green and so I pulled out all the green scraps from my box earlier this week - sadly I forgot to take a photograph! However, I now have two little flowers for my quilt, some ScrapTherapy squares and six and a half crumb squares to add to my collection which nicely cleared up all my green scraps.
I have to say that most of my greens are pretty dull! Not my favourite colour.

This months RSC colour is yellow and so, as with last months pink, first of all I pulled all the yellow fabrics out of my scraps box.
My first priority was the two little Dresdens for my quilt border and here they are.
Next I cut some scraptheray squares and then I made nine 4.5" crumb blocks for my collection.
As you can see, there were just a few oddments left over which I am very happy about.

I am determined this year to make a decent dent in my scrap box and so with this months colour being pink I made a start by pulling out all of the pink scraps that I have.
My main RSC project for the next two years are mini hexagon dresdens which will form the border of my Dresden Quilt so I started by making two of these.
There were some scraps suitable for hexies and so these have been basted and stored with my collection of odd hexies.
There were some pieces that made squares for my Scrap Therapy box and the rest I have made into crumb blocks.
Five and a half 4.5" crumb blocks which I have added to my collection for another Superscrappy quilt at some time in the future. As you can see just a few oddments left which is very satisfying!
