EPP Tuesday

It's been a while since I posted for Anthea's Piece Yourself Together.

Following on from FNSI I found some time to finish adding the yellow hexies to my tablecloth and now all the complete flowers and their borders are added.

Next up is to even up the edges and for that I suspect I shall need some more yellow fabric. So pleased to have got it to this stage though.

Don't forget to link up if you have any EPP to share - we love to see what you are doing. Many thanks Anthea for hosting.

EPP Tuesday

It's time to 'Piece Yourself Together' again with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches. Do take the time to link up if you have some EPP to share as we love to see what you are working on.

I have been working on my swap hexie flower cloth and have added the final round of blue flowers.

I just need to finish adding the yellow hexies around the last couple of sections and then I will need to work out what to fill in the gaps with and how I will finish the edge off.

Here are the swap hexies I have sent off this month.

These are for someone who has no colour preference, just asks for cream centres. So it was fun to go through my stash to see what took my fancy.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been working on.

It's EPP Tuesday

I am linking up again with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches - a linky for all things English Paper Pieced. Do go and see what other people have been working on and link up yourself if you have some EPP to share.

I finished sewing down my tumbling blocks to their background and have now quilted and bagged the piece ready to turn into a book wrap.

I wanted to try out some King Tut quilting thread that I bought with my Hexathon quilt in mind - don't get excited, no chance of that happening for a while - and used it with some loopy wavy line quilting on the book flaps. I am pleased with it - the colours are nice and vibrant, although not so easy to see in my picture!

So now I just need to sew down the flaps and it will be all ready for use.

Here are my swap hexies for the month.

So on the EPP front that is it for me.

This Friday is FNSI, the link is here if you fancy joining in for a nice stitchy evening.

Thank you to everyone who left a comment on my last post - I tried to reply to most of the comments but some may have escaped me! Will Blogger ever sort this problem out or is this our blogging life of the future?
Hope you are having a good week

PYT Tuesday

It's great to have Anthea back - hope you feel better soon Anthea. To link up with all things EPP visit Anthea's blog here  If you have any EPP work on the go then do please link up - we are always looking for eye candy and new inspiration! Thank you Anthea for hosting us.

You may remember that towards the end of last year I started making 1" tumbling block hexies as my new RSC project.

After making 60 of these little hexies I decided that they were taking up too much of my time and so I put them safely away to await inspiration!

This week I decided that it was time that my 2018 sewing journal had a cover and remembered the tumbling blocks. So out they came and I started to play. I started off with these linking circles which I liked very much.

I was thinking that I could join them together and then applique them to a plain background which would look great but then I started filling in the gaps and liked the effect even better.

And so I have started sewing them together - this is as far as I have got.

My only other EPP project at the moment are my swap hexies - these are this months, winging their way to Australia.

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been working on.

PYT Tuesday is here again!

Those two weeks zipped by!

Thank you Anthea for keeping me on my toes - pop over to Anthea's blog here to see progress on her lovely hexagon quilt and to see what other EPPers are up to.

I took my blue and yellow Grandmothers Flower Garden out of it's box again for a week and have made good progress.

Here it is when it first reappeared

I spent a couple of evenings basting yellow hexagons.

And then cracked on with my cloth.

It has all gone back in the box now until my next burst of enthusiasm! I have enough blue flowers to go all the way around again so another big push should see it finished.

Meanwhile another UFO has surfaced but I will save that for my next post.

It's raining again here - I am sure we must have had more than enough rain to make up for the dry summer we had last year!

It's EPP Tuesday!

And I am linking up with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches for another Piece Yourself Together.

Many thanks Anthea.

Not much to show from this end - the weather has been so awful that I have still not been able to get a decent picture of my Hexathon quilt. I have made my RSC tumbling blocks for the month - it's light and medium blue this month.

I have cut back on swap hexies - just one group now - here is my January flower winging it's way to Australia.

I love this colour combination.

Now, about the weather! After all the rain we now have flooding in the valley. Popped out between showers yesterday afternoon to take some pictures.

OK so back to packing for Spain - hopefully my next pictures will be sunnier!

It's a Flimsy!

Yes, finally my Hexathon Quilt is a flimsy with all four borders now added. Whew! And it is big! Must admit I had not realised quite how big. Anyway, due to the prevailing weather conditions - ie very cold, grey and damp, I have had difficulty in getting a decent photograph. So my apologies for this poorly lit, squashed up picture - I will post a decent one as soon as I can get outside.

There is some pressing to do too!

What had escaped my notice was that the bottom left corner would be completely bare!  I shall have to put on my thinking cap to come up with something to fill that space.

I have two spare large hexagons but I think one of them would be too big. On the other hand I think that it needs more than just another small hexagon.

In other news, I have completed one set of swap hexagons for December - yes, the December list for one group came out early!

I also have my November RSC tumbling blocks complete. There was no specific colour for November just the suggestion that we used something dark. So I chose brown as my brown box is quite full.

I am linking up with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches for Piece Yourself Together. Thank you Anthea.

A lean EPP Tuesday!

It's EPP Tuesday and sadly I have very little to share! The only EPP I have produced over the last two weeks has been my swap hexies for November.

So do pop over to Hibiscus Stitches to see how Anthea's lovely Scrappy Hexie is coming along and to see what everyone else is working on. Thanks to Anthea for organising the linky.

EPP Tuesday

Linking up with  Anthea once again for Piece Yourself Together. Thank you Anthea.

I have been working on my Hexathon and the two pieced borders are almost complete.

Not easy to photograph - I had to wait for the grass to dry by which time the sun was in the wrong direction! I need to finish the ends off with some plain hexagons and then think about attaching them to rest of the top.

As you will have seen from my last post here I have completed my RSC project and started a new one by cutting out some diamonds to make tumbling blocks. My pink tumblers are now complete and have been put away awaiting my next colour.

No idea yet how I will be putting them together or what I shall make, but there is plenty of time for that!

Beautiful weather here at the moment with cold nights and bright sunny days. The cranes have finally started to fly south - a sure sign of cold weather further north. Here are some that were thermalling (spiralling to gain height) above our house yesterday.

Toussaint here today so a public holiday (Nov 1st) - the roads are quiet and the two building sites nearby are also silent. Beautiful. Enjoy your day.

EPP Tuesday!

Many thanks once again to Anthea for hosting our EPP link up - pop over to Anthea's blog here to see how her beautiful scrap quilt is coming along and to see who else has linked up.

It has been quiet on the EPP front here - too many other projects on the go and of course last week we were at the seaside! More on that later. First though I have made several of these.

In one of my swap groups we are sending heart flowers to any member of the group who is unwell or in need of a hug. This is a spare - the centres get signed before sending off.

As I mentioned we were away last week and travelled to Mimizan Plage which is on the west coast of France south of Bordeaux. The long golden beach stretches all the way from Arcachon down to Biarritz. Inland is the flat, forested area of Landes which is protected from harsh Atlantic storms by huge sand dunes stretching along the coast.

The beaches are popular with fishermen and surfers as well as the usual sun and beach lovers.

On our first night we saw this stunning sunset at Mimizan looking like the sea was on fire!

There is a river which splits Mimizan Plage into two - the north and the south beaches.

A pleasant place to sit on a warm afternoon to watch the birds, the fishermen and generally people watch!

Not one of my better pictures but I was standing on the dune looking inland and over the tops of all the tall pine trees that grow there. This is Cap de l'Homy Plage where it was beautiful to walk along the beach while the tide was out.

On our way home we visited the small town of Roquefort - this is not the Roquefort of cheese fame which is further east. It's an attractive town with this splendid bridge beautifully decorated with hanging baskets.

There is a beautiful Church with different sections having been built over many hundreds of years but which has recently been restored. If you click on the Roquefort link you will se a picture of the outside of the church. I loved the interior decoration.

In the courtyard there is the tiny chapel of St Joseph which is also dedicated to St Jacques and welcomes pilgrims on their way to Compostella in Northern Spain.

We were fortunate to have five dry, sunny days away, we left home in rain and arrived back in grey damp!

Thank you for making it through to the end of this post.

I am also linking up with Needlework Tuesday at Heather's Books and Quilts.
