FNWFs July

 And we say it every month - where does the time go! As I said to someone this morning, it rushes by because we are enjoying what we are doing, simple as that!

It was a late night and an early Friday morning for us but Yay!! we have a new government! At long last, well overdue. Nice to be able to vote again and although our party did not win, we did get the MP we wanted who I think will be very good for the area. So all in all a happy day. Watched the new PM arrive in Downing Street and make his first speech at lunchtime and then it was time to sew!

First up my Stitch Journal for the day. We are into Aqua this month - and also going very floral!

That oddity for day 2 is supposed to be cricket stumps! we spent the day at the Somerset County Ground with friends watching the talking all through the cricket. Well we do only meet up with one couple once a year.

Anyway, enjoying my flowers for July.

Just had the toe to knit up on a sock so I got that finished next and all sewn up. I started these way back last winter and then put them aside for a couple of commissions. Nice to have these finished and ready for the winter.

The pattern is Easy Lace Sock by Winwick Mum and uses this yarn in a colourway called Starry Night which is no longer available. I got mine at a bargain price from a local charity shop.

The top picture is the true colour.

So moving on and another night of football meant that I was able to crack on with my RSC log cabins for the month. Although I found I only had one piece of foundation fabric cut so could only do one. I finished the embroidery from Jennifer, pressed it and away I went. I had already cut the strips. My Aqua's do all tend more towards dark and medium but I think they will be OK.

More football tonight so maybe the next two will get done!

FNWFs that wasn't!

 Well some of us were stitching along together yesterday! Never mind Cheryll - we are happy to go again next week and if anyone wants to join in then you can sign up now here 

First up for my Friday after a very pleasant day spent with family was my Stitch Journal. Having finished with January

I have moved onto the RSC colour of red for February.

Some of those reds are a bit more coral than red but they are beautiful threads and need using! Here are days one and two.

Next up some knitting. I finished this first lacy sock and I do love how the colours have worked.

As I have some travelling to do next week my next job was to make a start on a Winwick Mum basic sock that will be easy to pick up while I am away. More West Yorkshire Spinners yarn, this one is called Swallow.

And that was my evening - looking forward to next Friday now.

And while I am here another green finish for January - a new Swedish peg bag as my old one had finally, after many years, given up and need to find the bin.

I made this one a little smaller and it is perfect for my needs.

FNSI January

 And many thanks to Wendy for inviting us again, I look forward to joining everyone on the 3rd Friday for our get together.

I was a bit lax I am afraid on the photograph front. My first task was to alter a skirt - not exciting and certainly not worth a pic!

Next up however I started quilting a cot quilt. The top is one that I made back in the mists of time and has been sitting around waiting for attention. I got it layered up last year and thought I would make a start on the quilting while I had the machine out. I have done about half which took me an hour so I know that next time I get the machine out I need to set aside and hour to finish it off. Sadly it got packed away along with the machine before I realised that I ought to have taken a photo!

In the evening I worked first on my stitch journal. Here is an up to date picture. At the moment I am working on blanket stitch variations.

Then a little bit of knitting on my lace socks.

In other news, the crochet blanket is finished. Pleased with how this turned out and hope it will give someone a nice warm hug next winter.

We have had some cold weather over the last week or so with -7 a couple of nights this week. Mild today and more rain on the way!

 Good Friday and it's Friday Night Sew In which Wendy is extending to Easter Weekend Sew In. Click here to see who joined in and what they are getting up to. I thought I would start by posting my Friday work and will catch up later with anything else I work on over the weekend.

 During the afternoon I worked in my #31daysartjournal sketchbook, now well into 40+ days but I finally have a couple of pages I am calling finished.

I love Ranunculus flowers and this one flowered on my kitchen window sill for most of March and into April so deserved a two page spread.

Then during the evening I added two pink RSC Dresdens to my quilt, they had been finished for a few days so just needed pressing and appliqueing.

Not many more of these little ones to do then I must do four rainbow Dresdens for the corners.

On Thursday I finished these Winwick Mum Easy Lace socks from her book More Super Socks. The lace bit really is easy and I love her heel. Next to try I think is the pattern for Easy Cable Socks - its some time since I did a cable. Meanwhile I can crack on with the hat that I bought the yarn for last week.
