It does not really feel like autumn - more like the summer we should have had instead of all that mega heat. Anyway with schools back it has been nice to get out and about again at a reasonable temperature - even taking a cardi, just in case.
We took our lunch to Dunster Beach one day. A really clear day with great views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. The tide was going out and there were plenty of birds on the shore line for our binoculars to focus on. After lunch I took a walk along the almost deserted beach purposely leaving my camera behind so I could concentrate on the views and the atmosphere. Of course, I picked up lots of shells - there are always lots along this beach although never very big.
The beginning of the month so a new 'page' in my Stitch Journal has begun.
And a few pictures of August.
With no Chookshed Challenge to work on and awaiting a yarn order, I took the oportunity to finish off this bit of crazy quilting I worked on earlier in the year. It is a gift for someone I am seeing next month so nice to get it finished and ready.
And also made a start on a new pair of socks as a back up project for when all else is just too much!
You are being very patient with your scrappy squares knitting... hope this works. I do love your Stitch Journal work, am always amazed at the different stitches you find to do. A day at the beach sounds perfect

Beach combing is always fun. Love your stitches.
ReplyDeleteYour stitch journal is fabulous! You are so very creative. The heart gift is sweet. It makes me want to start a new CQ project.
ReplyDeleteWonderful stitching Lin, do you find beach glass as well as shells?
ReplyDeleteThat beach looks so lovely Lin & I love the shells you have gathered. Wonderful stitch journal page as always - that heart with the crazy quilting is just beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteLove your stitches. Always fun to review last month's work. The little "tree" on the right of the September section is just adorable. The crazy quilting heart is sublime. I'm sure your friend will cherish it. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI think your new attempt looks really good, dear Lin. Keep in mind that you can wet-block the whole thing once it’s finished—that’s what gives it its elegant shape.
ReplyDeleteI saw a blanket like that on the quilting frame at my quilter’s place—unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the finished blanket. Anke, the quilter, said it turned out well.
It’s certainly an incredibly exciting project, at the very least.
Your stitching is magnificent, as always.
Happy Sunday greetings from Viola.
P.S. We’re planning to go to Wales next year :-)
