It is good to get to the end of the week and have several projects to share with you now that Red Manor House is out of the way.
First up my swap hexies for the month.
It seems that I am seriously short of red fabrics so I shall have to do a bit of shopping before red comes around for RSC.
My quilt group are making Linus quilts at the moment and I remembered some blocks that I made from a jelly roll some years ago and hadn't used. Some were squares and some had been cut into triangles ready to machine back into squares so that was my first job.
Two nice post trimming piles are always very satisfying!
Here are all the blocks after machining together.
I need to source some suitable backing fabric now.
In the evenings it has been good to get back to some Field Journal embroidery. These were completed this week - already for making up into hexagons.
I have a large stash of knitting wool lurking under the bed so I thought a new jumper for next winter would be in order. I like knitting for mindless handwork whilst watching TV. Here is my start.
It is my first time using a circular needle - treated myself to some of those lovely Symphony ones - and am finding them easy to use. Also my first attempt at a knitted folded hem and I am very pleased with how that has turned out. Now to add in some more colours.
Very changeable weather here but we have been able to get some garden time this week despite the horrendous deluge we had earlier in the week.
Heres hoping for a nice weekend - for me and for you.
Lovely hexies and a great strippy flimsy. Your field journal pieces are as always, very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLots of pretties you are working on, Lin. Those sweet embroideries will look fabulous on hexies. Love the colour of the jumper you are knitting. I love using circular needles.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely variety of projects to do.... I always find a bit of an 'empty' feeling after a big project is done.... (doesn't last long as there are others waiting!) love that colour yarn and its so fun seeing FJ blocks happening...
ReplyDeleteHugz
beautiful field journal blocks Lin.
ReplyDeletehave you started putting them together?
very sweet Linus quilt too.
Happy knitting!
It seems I've been missing for a while - so will gradually catch up - even if I don't comment
ReplyDeleteLovely colour for your new jumper.. I really do like Field Journal - but no - no more projects!
Very fortunate your niece could play postie - and a lovely fabric selection....happy pondering the "what will I make".
The red and white hexagons are striking! I love your field journal pieces.
ReplyDeleteHi Lin well done on your beautiful work 🌹🤍🌹
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful variety that you are working on Lin. I love the colours in the quilt. Yes I find knitting mindless & therapeutic of an evening too - especially as winter is knocking on my door. xx
ReplyDeleteThose stitcheries are lovely, and I’m impressed with your knitting and hem! I found recently that I have barely any yellow fabrics so I went shopping to stock up - came home with just one yellow piece, and four turquoise. 😂 I have so much turquoise…
ReplyDeleteGreat hexies, and the embroideries are wonderful. Enjoy your knitting.
ReplyDeleteThe field journal pieces continue to delight me.
ReplyDeleteYou have such pretty projects. I love your needlework blocks. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to knit a sweater now, Lin, nice time until winter... relaxing.
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery is terrific. I love those.
And you have nice blocks in the works.
I've made little coasters and placemats in the works...otherwise, the lilacs and the canola are blooming...isn't that heavenly?
Happy greetings to you Lin.
Your Field Journal embroidery is as lovely as ever. It still love thinking about you putting them into the center of Hexies. Those are cute jelly roll blocks that you had previously made.
ReplyDeleteA lot of lovely progress made, and pretty varied as well!
