Piece Yourself Together time again..

.... and the last one for 2015. Thank you very much Anthea for setting this up and organising us this year, it has been great to see what other people are working on and we need to spread the word!

So, to my swap hexies and this lovely one arrived recently

.

And here is one that I sent out in November

The other November hexies to send require fabric that I don't have so they will be sent when I get to UK next week.

Here are my December hexie flowers that I have posted to my swap partners.

Last time I showed you a sneak peak of some half inch hexies that I was working on - they were for postcards which have now been received so I can show you the finished cards.

This one was for the lovely Susan who is busy working on a dissertation for her degree!

And this one went to my swap partner Annie  in Sheila's Christmas postcard swap.

Annie blogs at Freeze Frame.

Many thanks to Sheila for organising another lovely postcard swap.

So Happy Christmas to my hexie friends and see you next year.

Piece Yourself Together - EPP Tuesday

Many thanks to Anthea for hosting this linky. Click on her name to take you to her blog and then look for the linky on the right hand side to see what everyone else is doing.

Late last year I joined a hexie swap group which means that each month I swap a hexie flower with my partner for the month. Here are the flowers I have received so far.

Well, it's not going to be a quilt any time soon but wheres the hurry?

It occurred to me that I have not kept a record of the flowers I have sent off to my partners and so, as these are so quick and easy to do, I have decided that when I cut out a set of hexies for my partner I will cut an extra set the same for me.

So here are my hexies cut and ready to sew for this months swap.

I am travelling again next week so I shall be sewing these while I am away.

I have also cut a stack more 1/2" hexie papers also to take away with me.

Well, that is all for now. I shall be posting about my February CQJP block later this week. See you then.

EPP Tuesday

Joining up with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches for her first EPP Tuesday.

So I am sharing my long term 1/2" hexie project which at the moment consists of a box of basted and unbasted hexies.

We saw some beautiful mosaics when we visited Rome last year and have a vague idea of trying to replicate part of one! We shall see.

Pop over to Anthea's blog to see what everyone else is doing.

A Postcard, a Win and a Day Out

There is a new postcard on my hanger

This delightful card from Susan.

My own little Angel. When I wrote to Susan to thank her I was delighted to hear from her that she had won a category at the Harrogate Quilt show last weekend. Best Themed Piece on the theme Vintage Charm. If you click on the link above you will see Susan with her winning piece. Not only that but she was an overall runner up. I am so pleased for her - congratulations Susan. And thank you so much for my card.

Yesterday we had a day out to the coast - well, not exactly the coast, the Gironde Estuary. We went to a new to us bird reserve. We had a beautiful day - clear sunny skies and a breeze to stop us getting too hot. We were nearly 3 hours walking round the reserve and saw plenty of migrating birds as we went round. We had a fleeting glance of a kingfisher and saw 3 purple herons flying over.

This family of swans landed on one of the lakes.

All around the reserve we saw this plant growing amongst the grass and reeds.

A new plant to us - it is American Pokeweed. I have to say that the French name, Raisin d'Amerique is much more attractive!
Our guide told us that it is in the area because it was once used to colour wine although I have not been able to verify this. It is toxic however, but the birds love it and feed on the berries.

On the sewing front, amongst other things, I have put together my little hexagons into this.

It is almost 12" at it's widest. I do love the back - the colours of the flowers seem to stand out better.

Next I am going to do all the plain swatches and use them to make the border.

Meanwhile, I have some postcards to finish and my crazy pouch which just needs a few beads.

Hope you are all having a good week.
