FNwF November get together

Many thanks to Cheryll for organising our get together again - visit Cheryll's blog here to see what everyone was working on.

I started the afternoon with these two stitcheries that have been awaiting attention for a while now.

By the end of the afternoon (with some garden work in between!) I had these two mini flimsies.

They have both now been layered up and are waiting to be quilted.

In the evening, by the fire, I finished off these two swap flowers

and then I started to play with some knitting. I have long wanted to try some Domino knitting and recently came across a small project that I thought would be great for experimenting. Barbara of The Flashing Scissors showed some lovely Domino mittens on her blog - do go and have a look - and very kindly sent me the pattern. I did not get very far but I think I now have the hang of it. Anyway, here is my progress so far.

Well that was my Friday - I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else was working on. Have a great weekend.

Friday Night Sew In for October

A small package arrived in the post for me yesterday - this little collection that I had ordered from Euro Japan Links. I needed some new scissors and some sashiko thread (it takes dye beautifully) so I
added a couple of little extras - some needles and a white, water erasible pen to try.

The box contained these little snips

which are amazingly sharp and magic for snipping threads. I am not a fan of plastic covers so of course I needed to make a little case for them. I had an odd piece of the decorated felt I made here
which when cut in half was perfect for the job.

While I had the machine set up for this I also machined up the strips that I had cut earlier

 to make some pen holders for my Christmas gift box.

 The rest of my sewing time was spent adding a hanging sleeve to the back of a mini quilt

 and appliqueing some mini hexie flowers.

I am pleased to say that my Gardener Girl is complete and has been put away safely until Christmas. Here she is.

August! Already!
Well, here we are again and it was the first Friday of the month so it was Friday Night with Friends - linking up with Cheryll and all those lovely people who joined in last night.

Thank you Cheryll for getting us altogether again.

Most of my Friday was spent painting the walls in my kitchen - good to have it looking fresh and clean again. So I was very happy to spend Friday evening turning this pretty Jenny of Elefantz embroidery

into this mini quilt top

The buttons are not stitched down yet - they will form part of the quilting. So next job is to put a line of quilting around the inside of the frame and to stitch down the buttons.

It's warming up again here after a couple of cooler days - which we needed.

Many thanks to Wendy for hosting us again for our Friday night sewing fun - do pop over to Wendy's blog to see what everyone got up to.

It was another grey, wet day in the Dordogne so sewing fun got under way early here.

First up for me was this Jenny of Elephantz sampler panel that I had stitched before Christmas.

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw the pattern!

It needed a patchwork frame to turn it into a mini quilt and it ended the day looking like this.

The rest of my evening was spent working on this UFO from 2012.

I had completed about 95% of the hand quilting and then folded it away and ignored it for 2 years! So it is a high priority finish for this year.

Not a brilliant photo but I think you get the idea. I completed a couple of these curly shapes last night and will crack on with a few more this evening.
