Just so quickly another month is over. First of all a picture of this past weeks stitches and I was on a couching roll!
And here is the whole of March.
Had a really lovely surprise when I opened up one of my dye jam jars at the weekend. These gorgeous greens came from red onion skins!
The two darker threads and the darker fabric are silk which takes the dye differently. The right hand lace was an ecru viscose, the rest are cotton and linen. Very happy with these as I have not had a darker green before. Stashing these away now for next years stitch journal.
And while I am here I can show you my #4 for the Chookshed Challenge. It is this lovely canvas work scissor keep. A great choice as I have a couple of flights coming up and this small project will be a perfect project to take with me.
Happy stitching
Lovely to see your stitching and wow, how fascinating to see the different dye takes on different fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove your colour palette for March. You put such a lot of detail into the stitching.
ReplyDeleteYour stitching journal is so artistic. How interesting that the red onion skins give a green colour.
ReplyDeleteYour March stitches look absolutely beautiful. I love how you were on a couching roll – the texture must be amazing. That surprise green dye from red onion skins is such a cool find! It’s so interesting to see how different materials like silk, viscose, and cotton take the dye in their own unique way. And that scissor keep is such a perfect little project for your flights – so portable but still so meaningful. Wishing you a great time stitching through April! Keep up the amazing work.
ReplyDeleteLove the green. That’s a nice little scissor keep
ReplyDeleteI’d have never thought that onion would come out green. A nice colour green, at that. Have fun with your little scissor keep. It is rather cute.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the green, and find it amazing that it came from red onion skins, Lin!
