And I have to admit that FNSI completely passed me by - but then I don't join in on Facebook so probably not surprising. Facebook is something I check first thing in the morning to see if anyone has a birthday and then I move on to more interesting things!
Anyway, my Friday was productive. After a little Christmas shopping in Taunton's Independent Quarter where there are some delightful shops including a new cheese shop which I made a beeline for, I spent some time with my sewing machine.
If you remember, I have been embroidering a little Christmas roundel each month this year and now is time to make up my Christmas Tree Skirt. It all went together pretty easily yesterday afternoon and in the evening I started appliqueing the roundels. Here it is so far.
I do like how it is looking although if I was starting again I might use a variegated blue thread with a little silver for the embroideries. Finished pictures next week.
My Stitch Journal picture for the week.
Now that the ripple blanket is finished I have started quilting my RSC Dresden Flower quilt which is nice and warm on my legs these chilly evenings. I ditch quilted around the blocks earlier in the year and am now just adding some hand quilting to the flowers. These work up quite quickly.
You have been having a lovely crafty time at your house. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteYour tree skirt is just lovely Lin - I have a couple of patterns for some really lovely detailed ones but I have not as yet made any. You will enjoy it around your tree this year - how special. xx
ReplyDeleteLike you I forget about FNSI, and hardly ever on F/B these days. The weather seems to suddenly change this time of year. I love that tree skirt.... how big is it?

Your tree skirt is looking beautiful, and so are your applique flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe little tree skirt is looking lovely. Maybe I should make that a project for next year. The kit is waiting patiently. Your stitchery is fun, as always and it is perfect weather for hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteLovely tree skirt and stitching. Nice to do the quilting in the cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteThe tree skirt is so pretty already, Lin. More beautiful stitches in your journal. And the hand quilting in the Dresden flowers is looking great, too. Lots of nice progress.
ReplyDeleteDear Lin, I really like your little Christmas tree blanket, and I'll have to think about sewing one myself.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've traditionally had a blue-printed blanket with angels under the tree... it's also very nice... there's still plenty of time, as we traditionally only put the Christmas tree up in the living room shortly before Christmas Eve.
Anyway, the Advent star will be hung up on Friday, and the first Christmas markets in Dresden open on Wednesday... wonderful... I love it.
Your embroidery is beautiful, and I'm looking forward to your Dresden flower blanket.
Hugs Viola
Your tree will look so pretty with its skirt on. It is lovely to catch up with friends and enjoy a meal together.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of your Christmas tree skirt. . Loving your journal. Looking forward to seeing your socks.
