Many thanks to Cheryll for organising our Friday night get together. Sadly she is now moving to Facebook only - Facebook and I do not see eye to eye - so I will no longer be joining in but it has been fun over many years.
As usual I started my afternoon with my Stitch Journal and added a Christmas tree as that was what I did next. Here is my SJ week.
And here is my tree complete with lovely new tree skirt!
After that I moved on to some relaxing knitting. Earlier in the year I spotted this ball of yarn in a tiny shop in Cornwall and fell in love with the colours.
Not bothering to read the label I snapped it up. Of course I later realised that it was going to knit up in wide stripes which is not my favourite😢but I still love the colours and with some bamboo in the mix it has a lovely sheen and a soft feel.
And what about the other Ryegrass sock I hear you ask? Well I realised that I needed some new socks PDQ and the Ryegrass were taking too long, hence the new start. I can knit these while watching television and I did all that stocking stitch last night so hopefully I will soon have these finished.
Otherwise this week I have been working on the bag to store my Stitch Journal in at the end of the year. It is now finished. The stitching did somewhat distort the fabric....
......however the bag looks fine when it has the stitch roll inside and I am calling the slope on the flap a 'design feature'. The stitched fabric has a lovely feel to it.
That is all from me - back to getting out decorations and writing Christmas cards now. Have a great week.

I do not do Facebook either Lin - we appear to be a minority these days. Your stitch journal page AND your actual tree are just beautiful - so magical. I love the bag you have made too. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely Chrismasy addition to your slow stitching. Pretty idea for your pouch. Beautiful Christmas tree and skirt xx
ReplyDeleteyour journal embroidery and tree both look so festive. I also will not do the Friday nights next year, hardly ever on f/b these days. the stitching on the bag does look great and I actually love the wonky shape... well done with the socks - the stripes look good

Your tree looks so pretty with its new skirt. Pretty yarn for your new socks. Your stitching journal is looking very festive. I hope that you intend to keep blogging......I am not a fan of Facebook either.
ReplyDeleteThe 'design feature ' on the bag is rather wonderful, Lin. All that gorgeous stitching is impressive. Your Christmas tree skirt befits your sparkling tree perfectly. The skirt is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLots of lovelies this week. Your tree skirt looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a FB-er either but I went ahead a jumped on. There are a couple other groups I participate in only on FB so it's not a no-go for me. I'll miss you that don't join in. Lin, your SJ bag is a work of art in itself. I can also see why you were drawn to that ball of yarn. Even with the wide stripes, it'll make a beautiful pair of socks. Knit on & Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI’m not into Facebook either. I wouldn’t have expected the stitching to distort your fabric that much. But it still looks lovely and can be used. I enjoy seeing your stitch journal.
ReplyDeleteAll very seasonal. That tree skirt looks great under your tree.
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching on the journal and a sweet new tree skirt.
ReplyDeleteI like the way your pretty yarn is knitting up, will be nice socks.
Definitely a planned design on the journal bag. Haha!
Love the Design Feature!
ReplyDeleteDear Lin, as a long-time knitter, I'm absolutely thrilled with your yarn. What a gorgeous color gradient! I love the stripes. How beautifully the world is divided, so that not everyone likes the same things; that's what creates diversity.
ReplyDeleteYour other projects are beautifully done, I love the Christmas ornament :-)))
Sending you warm Monday evening greetings
Hug
That is too bad FNwFs is moving to Facebook only. You have a nice start on December's stitches in your SJ. The yarn you are using for the new sock is really pretty. And I love your tree and new tree skirt, Lin.
