Yes, for two days this week we had temperatures of 23/24 which is very pleasant summer weather and we all cast off our woolies and socks and basked in the sun. Then spring/winter came back with a vengeance and we were back to 11 degrees along with winds and April showers.
We have had a quietish week at home with a few short outings - it's Easter holidays so we tend to avoid anywhere touristy/child friendly. But I have been cracking on with a few projects.
First up my Stitch Journal - here is April so far.
Chookshed Challenge - this is to make some snap top bags for Christmas presents. I plan to make 8 with 4 large and 4 matching smaller ones. Not having made these before I thought a trial run would be in order. So having finally found a tape measure of the right width and ordered it, I pulled out some fabrics to make myself a small one. These pretties fell into my bag at Quilt group sometime last year and have been looking wistfully at me.
And made this little pouch - all by hand as I couldn't be bothered to pull the machine out.
It still needs it's 'snap' but the tape measure only arrived this morning, so that is a job for this afternoon. Once I am happy with my pouch I will pull ot fabrics for the rest and have an assembly line session with the machine later in the week.
I have been a good girl and kept up with my 'one pattern repeat a day' on the Ryegrass sock and it is coming along nicely.
I have also made a start on another Winwick Mum basic sock using some of the yarn very kindly sent to me by Stylecraft.
This is great TV knitting and I am pleased with how the colour repeats are looking. A pair for the Christmas box.
The garden is starting to grow at pace.
Grand National day here and like us, Liverpool are experiencing April showers. We just watched an earlier race happening during a hail storm! Not nice. The spectators had all disappeared inside, unsurprisingly. Fortunately our showers have just been of rain.
Have a good week everyone.
Oh, your Ryegrass sock is looking fabulous - Wildflower works beautifully as the contrast! You've been very busy so far this month! :) xx
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking pretty Lin. It sounds like typical spring weather - all four seasons sometimes, in one day. Your self striping yarn is looking very pretty. I think the little snap lock bags will be wonderful for christmas gifts. I have made a narrower one once to keep my rotary cutter in. xx
ReplyDeletewe avoid Easter crowds too.... I love how you are shading in the existing embroidery on the stitching and the socks are looking great. looks like great little bags are happening, those are pretty fabrics.

I might have to try Ryegrass. It looks like an interesting knit.
ReplyDeleteooops - I typed stuff and then lost it I think>
ReplyDeleteI hope your summer returns soon - we still have 30 degree days - at leaSt the nights are cool and the humidity is tolerable.
Love the stitching with the satin stitch forming the shape.
Love how the stripes work in the orange toned yarn..
You have been busy, Lin. Your stitch journal always amazes me. The snap bags sound interesting. And you are working with some lovely yarns.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking lovely. I'm sure summer will be back.
ReplyDeleteYour stitching journal is amazing, did you also do the raised design on the fabric? What a pretty little bag! I would love to stroll in your garden. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a lovely summer, we were in the car all day..! I hope there will be more summer later in the year.
ReplyDeleteWow, dear Lin, that little bag sewn by hand... you're so good! I'm excited to see how your "assembly line" work develops. I'm warning you, once you start with these little bags, you won't be able to stop... it will be very productive... I'm looking forward to it :-)))
ReplyDeleteYour sock with the knitted-in pattern is fantastic... I love the pattern and the colors... have lots of fun sewing, knitting, and in the garden.
Happy spring greetings from Viola.
Hug.
Finally on my laptop so I can comment on your post.
ReplyDeleteLike you we try to avoid the busy Easter break as we live in a town folk seem to go to for holidays..
Sounds like some nice weather you're enjoying. Be nice to spend time in your garden.
Good progress on your journal and some pretty colours you've been knitting too.
Nice little bag you made from the fabrics..
Your place is so pretty and green.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy. I love the way you are incorporating the white work into your stitchery. Our weather has been variable. 20C today and only to be 11C tomorrow.
