Yes, I have finished the snap pouches, but I doubt I will make any more! Much as I am pleased with the results, I think I prefer zips and it's not that much more faff.
Anyway, Chookshed Challenge #10 came in as a finish on Wednesday, so a day before deadline day, and here they are.
Four sets which have been put away to fill with goodies for Christmas gifts. I was playing chicken with the measuring tape - just had enought for these and I one I made earlier as a test!
Our challenge for May is #1. My challenge is to make something with the eco print fabrics that I bought last year at FOQs. Inspiration has yet to strike! Therefore, as time will be limited this month as we are going away, I am putting the fabrics aside for another time and will concentrate on another couple of jobs that need to be finished and maybe baste a few hexies for when #5 comes along. When I was looking for a safe place to store the snap bags I came across this bag.
In it is part of a Kaffe Fassett tunic and lots of wool. It has been in that bag for many a year and would probably not fit me if I finished it now! So I plan to undo what is there. It is worked using one strand of DK and one strand of 4ply so aran weight I think. I have had a fancy to crochet a basket for a while so once all that yarn is unravelled that is what I plan to do with it. But no hurry, this will not be finished this month. I also have a picture that needs framing and this will be a separate post when I get there as it is rather special.
So, what other news from this week. Well of course being the end of the month there are pictures of my Stitch Journal month.
And yesterdays start on May.

First of all Happy Birthday Lin!!! Wishing you a year filled with wonderful moments & happy memories. It is also my sister in laws birthday today.
ReplyDeleteYour socks are just wonderful as is that stitch journal. I think your pouches turned out so great & I especially love the blue toile ones. They will make such wonderful gifts at Christmas time. Enjoy your day Lin. xx
Happy, Happy Birthday to you, Lin! It seems you've enjoyed a wonderful week filled with fun creativity. Those finished snap pouches are lovely and those socks are fabulous. More gorgeous embroidery on your stitch journal also. Ahh...finding knitted garments that one started ages ago and picking them up again suspecting they won't fit. Sadly, that's my reality, too. =) Hope you enjoy a wonderful time away.
ReplyDeleteYour snap pouch sets will make lovely gifts.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to repurpose your wool and your socks are pretty and look toasty warm.
When the inspiration is not there, we must move onto something else. I get it.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute snap bags! They are fun. I recently acquired one from Karen. Love it!
Happy Belated Birthday.
ReplyDeleteThe snap pouches look great and will be lovely gifts.
Nice stitches you've done for your journal.
Love your pretty socks.
The Ryegrass socks really look good. The colour combination is perfect. These are definitely on my To Do list.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Birthday. All the best to you. I love all your projects. I've never done snap pouches. Too lazy to learn, lol. I LOVE the colours in the knitted tunic. Too bad it doesn't fit anymore. The stitching journal is wonderful as always. ;^)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! The snap pouches are so pretty, and wonderful gifts. I always admire your stitch journals.
ReplyDeleteLike your socks,so colorful, and your stitching journal looks great.x
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!!! I hope it was really special and lots of fun, Lin. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose poches - I've often thought of making that style, but wondered if they were really worth the effort? I may just stick to zips. Your stitch journals are alwasy lovely. :-)
Hugs
Jennifer
Happy Happy Birthday, Lin! I hope you are celebrating all month. The snap pouches are adorable and will make lovely gifts on their own; filled with goodies makes them better. Your stitch journal is full of beautiful stitches. And I love the yarn you used for the socks, especially the purple one.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday. I hope you celebrated well. Nice to see the finishes for the month. I’ve only made one snappy purse and used a commercial snap. I do want to try with a tape measure at some stage. The socks turned out great.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the “been there, done that” feeling — every crafter has that one project that turns out beautifully but still makes you say, “Right… probably not again!” 😄 Even so, finishing the snap pouches before the deadline is impressive, and you should absolutely be proud of them. Sometimes discovering you still prefer zips is part of the creative journey too. The satisfaction of getting Chookshed Challenge #10 completed on time must have felt fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday wishes..
ReplyDeleteEven the unravelling will take a while! I don't expect to see that for a couple of months at least!
I am well behind on my blog reading. Happy belated birthday wishes. Love those snap top bags. I recently made 4 - one each for Deana and her 3 friends who travelled out here for Scrub Stitching. Nice work on the socks and gorgeous stitcheries as always.
