Once again I am linking up with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches where we are Piecing Ourselves Together. Do go and visit Anthea - she has a brilliant little Christmas tree ornament made with 1/2" hexies which is brilliant for using up all those little scraps of Christmas fabric.
I have been thinking about how I am going to use my Hexathon hexies and had the idea of them falling (raining) down a quilt into a heap like jewels. This is my sort of plan.
I would use the little ones in the border down the left hand side and bottom of the quilt.
I laid all my blocks out on the grey fabric that I plan to use and quickly discovered that random was not going to be an option so I set about trying to organise a sort of wash of colour and this is what I came up with.
I have not started yet so nothing is set in stone - all comments welcome!
Meanwhile I have made a little progress putting together my blue swap hexies.
And some more have arrived - from the Netherlands
and from Australia.
Right - I'm off to find my Christmas fabrics!
Bye for now.
I love those bright hexagons AND the blue and yellow! I'd have a hard time deciding which to work on.

I think it is a lovely idea. They are so pretty all together x
ReplyDeleteWhat great ideas you're coming up for your "falling hexies." Can't wait to see what you decide on. The blue hexie flowers are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI htink your idea is wonderful. A colour wash effect would look fantastic. Some lovely hexie flowers from afar.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Wonderful idea! And I love the yellow around the blue hexi's!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful hexies XXX

I like your plan for the hexie quilt..........
ReplyDeleteWell Lin my friend, I am not very imaginative so I won't comment on the Morris layout, but I'm sure you'll do a great job when you've decided!
ReplyDeleteYour blue flowers with their yellow surrounds look so cheery, they're coming along beautifully! x
How difficult to organise the layout colours. When I am in doubt with colour schemes I always pin things to the wall opposite my bed - bit difficult with your hexies, and study the colours or change them around the next day.
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo far behind with reading everyone's blogs .......looks like I should have been sending you a blue Hexie???? Do you still need some & what measurements?
