Getting ready for a short holiday here so just a few pictures of what I have been up to - actually not very many!
I have finished my Chookshed Challenge for the month - a nice easy one really, don't know why it has taken me so long!
This was the quilted panel I had from many years ago.
And it is now a cushion, here shown gracing a couple of new to me chairs that my neighbour had no use for.
Having used hand dyed fabrics for the applique and border I just had to go into my stash to find something to complement them. Procion dyed fabrics all seem to blend together well I find. This piece was the back of an old cotton shirt that I had dyed magenta and was the perfect size. I love the markings you can get from crumpling the fabric into the dye.
The second picture looks like a tulip to me. Anyway, there was the perfect zip in my stash and an hour later the cover was made.
Here is my stitch journal from the last couple of weeks.
My secret stitching is complete and I have made progress on the latest pair of socks and the crochet blanket - sorry no pics.
Just a few pictures from a recent visit to Dunster Castle although we only did the river walk round to the cafe. It is always very noisy by this bridge as the water rushes down from Exmoor. Always amazing to see how quickly the Gunnera grow, and how big the leaves are!
This little robin came for a visit while we sat there.
So that is all my news for today - short and sweet! Have a great weekend.
A lovely cushion. Nice to have your piece finished. Thanks for taking us along on your walk.
ReplyDeleteYour cushion turned out just lovely Lin - a nice easy challenge for the month. Good to have it finished & being used now. Your walk photos are just beautiful - so pretty. I hope you enjoy your holiday. xx
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing a UFO. It looks great too! Your stitch journal is growing so beautifully. I have no idea how you got the crochet edge attached to the fabric but it looks fabulous and so dainty. Amazing job! Those leaves are HUGE! Shocking! The poor little robin seems to say : Excuse-me. I believe you are stepping on my lunch! lol. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeletethe cushion worked out just great... yes, I like the mottle on the fabric too - gives it a lovely textured look... have a good time away...

ReplyDeleteA sweet cushion! it looks wonderful outdoors with your wood chairs. Your stitches are always so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGunnera is one of those rather overwhelming plants, isn't it! One of our neighbours used to have one in the back garden, and there was no room for anything else!
ReplyDeleteYou finished the cushion so nicely! You've really been busy. I love the photos of your visit to Dunster Castle. Looked like a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteYou had a wonderful walk in the beautiful castle park.
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is gorgeous; it has a fantastic color scheme.
Happy short break and best wishes from Viola
I love how u
ReplyDeleteYou’ve made the panel into a cushion and it just “pops” in those chairs! I haven’t dyed anything in many many years and back then it was such a mess I think that’s what turned me off from doing it again lol I hope you are enjoying your time away . That little robin was a cutie standing there with the big leaf in its beak lol
Very pretty cushion...why do we leave them so long?? A lovely walk...silly thing to say - but its so "English" LOL...
ReplyDeleteThat was good to have the perfect backing fabric and zip to make the lovely cushion.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice break.
I loved the day we went to Dunster Castle. I still have my Christmas ball ornament too.
