FNwF for September

Lovely to get together again virtually with friends around the world. Thank you Cheryll for inviting us - you can see who else took part here.

Friday was a lazy sort of day as we went out to lunch to celebrate friends 55th wedding anniversary. On yet another 30degree plus day it was very pleasant sitting socially distanced under a very wide tree and eating delicious food. Having given our hosts a lift to the venue it was late afternoon before we returned home and I spent an hour or so catching up with blogs and mail plus half an hour talking Paw Patrol and the return to school that didnt happen with my great neice in Ghana!

Then it was time for cricket and I finally got around to doing some sewing. Having completed the applique of all the vine and basic leaves on my tablecloth earlier in the week I was able to make a start on adding the flowers.

Not many done but the cricket got exciting! And having written England off early in the Australian innings there was a nailbiting end with England winning! Whew. And then it was time for bed.

In other news this week I have my autumn hanging in place with a selection of my favourite autumn postcards

My swap hexies for the month are winging their way to Australia.

This months RSC colour is red.

Just one more month to go and then I will have the twenty I need for a quilt. I may need to play around with placement of my Dresdens before next month to see if I have any gaps, or if I go with the colour of the month.

So thats me all caught up for this week. Things are winding down in the vege plot now with just courgettes producing and the odd tomato ripening. Philip has cut most of the grass that we leave long during spring and early summer for the wild flowers, and so we shall soon be pruning and tidying for the winter. Lots of digging to do but that might need to wait until we get some rain (?) as the ground is very hard.

Covid numbers are on the increase here in France - as indeed they seem to be everywhere and it now
seems odd to see someone out and about without a mask instead of the other way around.

Stay separate and safe and have a good week.

  1. what a post full of loveliness today on your blog.....I can relate to your socially distanced picnic as I enjoyed visiting with my sister in July in a parking lot! I have one GD who loves Paw Patrol and another who has gotten totally entranced with Miraculous Ladybug! Your tablecloth is coming along nicely and your Fall wallhanging is perfect next to the postcards......love the postcard hanger.

  2. First things first...I love opening your blog and seeing all your fabulously cute pincushions.
Your tablecloth is going to be a beauty! Your applique is incredibly impressive.
Your Autumn wall hanging looks beautiful on your wall. Oh, look at that pumpkin shaped postcard! I love that one! The way you have them hanging and displayed is great.
I’m so tired of COVID but I think it will continue to wreak havoc as people continue to disregard the seriousness of it.
    Take care and be safe.

  5. Yes, it does seem odd when you see someone without a mask. How soon we become accustomed! Stay safe, and keep sewing!

  6. I love your tablecloth. The colors of your flowers are so beautiful and your stitching looks very good! Way to get your swap hexies done and out the door already. Sorry about your COVID numbers ... guess it's here to stay for a while longer. Rats!

  7. Your great niece goes to school in Ghana? Or is she there now? How are things in Ghana? I agree that numbers seem to be rising all over. My daughter in India tells me there has been 40 deaths in Rishikesh all of whom are young people 30-40 years old. Her visa comes due in three weeks and that is fraught with problems also.
Your table cloth will be lovely and I admire your fall postcards display.

  11. Your fall display is lovely. Fall? Did someone say fall? No, no, I’m not ready for summer to end. Love the projects you’re working on. That needle turn appliqué looks lovely but difficult. Can’t wait to see how your Dresend project turns out.

  15. Your applique is bery pretty Lin. Your lunch out sounded wonderful, we are hoping the restrictions might ease here at the end of next week, fingers crossed, our numbers seem to be going down after the second flare up. I saw a man out walking this morning, he saw me, went Oh No, turned and headed back home, he had forgotten his mask!!

  20. LOts of lovely work in progress. Stay safe, where I live it is strange to see someone in a mask, as so far, we have dodged "it' here, although it is mandatory in the next state to wear them.

  21. Your applique is beautiful and I loooove your autumn display and that gorgeous quilt hanger. Dresden is lovely as always. Thankfully, our covid numbers are low compared to Europe but we have had various stages of lockdown since March and very tight restrictions here in my state for several weeks. Zuchinis are growing here now ( corgettes) and Spring has brought much needed warmer weather and sunshine.

  22. Your appliqué is coming along beautifully and I love your little autumn display. Like you, I’m looking forward to getting our last. RSC blocks made next month. It’s funny reading how your garden is winding down for the winter, whereas ours is waking up for the spring. Hearing of the cricket makes me look forward to the summer season over here.....albeit a rather different one I assume. So sad the Aussies lost.

  23. Gorgeous bright colours for your tablecloth, how pretty this is going to be. I like your wall hanging preparing for the Autumn and the pretty hexies you have made. We are still having wonderful weather here in the north of Spain with the promise of a hot weekend. Coronavirus situation is getting worse here :-(
    Stay safe and sound.
