FNwF's October

Once again my thanks to Cheryll for getting us together again on Friday night - pop over to her blog here to see who else took part.

I had earmarked Friday afternoon for making a start on my RSC Dresden for October while catching up with the Archers. But - no news yet from Angela as to what the colour is for this month, so I had a much needed sort through some of my P&Q magazines while I listened.

This week I have been working on the quilting of my Red Manor House and that is what I carried on with on Friday evening. Having quilted around the manor house I have now moved on to cross hatching around the sheep, doves and flowerpots. Happy with my progress so far.

I seem to be a bit short of photos! Not nice weather today for taking pictures. I did spend an hour outside this morning in a brief spell of sunshine collecting walnuts. But it is raining again now with occasional gusts of strong wind. Knowing the wind and rain were coming I went out with my camera and took a few flower pictures earlier in the week. We have new borage plants popping up all over the place and I love the brilliant blue of their star shaped flowers.

Also thought I would get a few pictures of my fushias before they finish flowering for the season.

I am off to catch up with what everyone was working on last night. See you soon.

  1. The cross hatch quilting is looking great Lin! Love your flowers...your fuschias look like little pink ballerinas.

  2. I was going to say how pretty the borage is - but the fuchsias won me over. I just love them - they don't do well in our climate...
Happy quilting...looking forward seeing this one.

  4. I love cross-hatching, it's so relaxing. Mindless yet beautiful addition to any quilting project. Wish my fuchsias bloomed as prettily as yours. I don't think I paid enough attention to them this year. Have a good weekend!

  5. So clever to make that little tub you made. I really like it.
Meanwhile, always a treat to see Red Manor. Stitching like that is soothing for sure. I always enjoy flower photos. Aren't those fuscia flowers amazing!

  7. I adore borage, too. Love the colour of the flowers and relaxed growing habit; and fuschias are always pretty. They always remind me of ballerinas. Your quilting on Red Manor is looking lovely.

  8. Gorgeous fushias - they remind me of ballerinas. Sometimes it is good to have a sort and flick through magazines - research is what I call it. Great job on the quilting.

  12. It sounds like you had a worthwhile Friday evening, Lin. Well done on the hand quilting, catching up on posts - it seems like you are getting through it relatively quickly? I hope your garden didn't get too damaged with the wind and rain - I love seeing your fuchsia, something I haven't grown for a while and I really must try them again - they don't seem to like our climate up north here. I love your little pot from the selvedges - very cute. And your tablecloth is looking gorgeous!

  20. I too was waiting for the RSC colour to be announced. Then read somewhere that it must be yellow, as that was the only colour not called this year. I guess the experienced RSCers know these things. LOL
Your Fuchsias loo lovely, thank you for sharing them, it brought back some lovely memories. My mum had a huge collection of Fuchsia plants in so many colours and sizes. There are so many varieties.
