Catching up

Some how it has  been a couple of weeks since my last post so time for a catch up. But first I need to welcome new readers of my blog, I seem to have crept over the 100 mark without noticing! So thank you for joining me.

So first up Field Journal. I finished one more little embroidery

and got all four made up into their hexagons.

The next four are prepped and stitching has begun - picture next week I hope.

My knitting however has progressed significantly.

As I am working in random stripes (winging it!) I thought it might be safer to work front and back at the same time. It grows quickly whilst watching TV and I even managed a few rows during a lovely zoom chat with Chooky and friends this morning.

I have started embroidering onto the boro panel I made earlier in the year and hope to have something to show next time.

We spent a couple of nights with friends in London last week and I enjoyed a lovely walk through Bushy Park to Hampton Court. This is along the the mile long Chestnut Walk.

The Horse Chestnuts were all in flower and looking splendid.

We saw a few deer but the main herd must have been off somewhere else in the park - it is large!

Didn't really have time to look around the house - for the price they charge you need to be there all day! But got a few shots of the front entrance.

It was a bit overcast that day but since we have been home the weather has been glorious. We have been enjoying time in the garden and planting out Philips seedlings. After the wet winter, the sunshine is giving everything a spurt of growth.

Have a great week everyone and I'll see you at FNWF's

What have I been doing?

It is good to get to the end of the week and have several projects to share with you now that Red Manor House is out of the way.

First up my swap hexies for the month.

It seems that I am seriously short of red fabrics so I shall have to do a bit of shopping before red comes around for RSC.

My quilt group are making Linus quilts at the moment and I remembered some blocks that I made from a jelly roll some years ago and hadn't used. Some were squares and some had been cut into triangles ready to machine back into squares so that was my first job.

Two nice post trimming piles are always very satisfying!

Here are all the blocks after machining together.

I need to source some suitable backing fabric now.

In the evenings it has been good to get back to some Field Journal embroidery. These were completed this week - already for making up into hexagons.

I have a large stash of knitting wool lurking under the bed so I thought a new jumper for next winter would be in order. I like knitting for mindless handwork whilst watching TV. Here is my start.

It is my first time using a circular needle - treated myself to some of those lovely Symphony ones - and am finding them easy to use. Also my first attempt at a knitted folded hem and I am very pleased with how that has turned out. Now to add in some more colours.

Very changeable weather here but we have been able to get some garden time this week despite the horrendous deluge we had earlier in the week.

Heres hoping for a nice weekend - for me and for you.

Friday Night with Friends

Many thanks to Cheryll for hosting our evening - pop over to her blog here to see who else took part.

I had made a start on my RSC hearts on Thursday so it was nice to get them finished for FNWF's.

Now that Red Manor House is finished I am looking forward to getting on with some other projects so today - after lunch at the coast -  I am getting out one of the Field Journal blocks for some peaceful embroidery.

Linking up with Angela for ScrapHappy Saturday  here - do go and have a look to see what everyone else is doing.

Have a great weekend

Red Manor House!

And the last few quilting stitches finally went in on Wednesday - appropriately my birthday.

Here are a few quick pictures taken for Instagram - it was raining so no outdoor pictures.

All hand quilting done over two winters - it has kept my feet nice and cosy!

I will do a proper photoshoot once the binding is on - but first I need to buy fabric which is going to mean sussing out some LQS's!
